On January 24, 1989 Ted Bundy was executed in Florida, but to this day it is still known who he is ... how can that be? Because it is a serial killer who marked the time in which he lived. His full name was Theodore Robert Bundy and He was born on November 24, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont, USA. He was a serial killer and rapist, in fact he is considered one of the most notorious criminals of the late XNUMXth century.

Complicated childhood

His childhood was marked by a great lie since his grandparents assumed the identity of their parents to hide an immoral motherhood from the society in which they lived and that no one would point the finger at them. They made Ted and the entire society believe that they were his parents and that his mother was his sister.

They tried to look like a perfect family when in reality the inside of their house was a real hell: the grandfather / stepfather was a violent man and abused his grandmother, consumed a lot of porn and liked to watch videos of animal and human abuse. These attitudes were not hidden in front of his son / grandson ... who somehow internalized all those horrible and atrocious behaviors.

His relationship with his grandfather / stepfather was complicated and he was also the victim of bullying at school. His intelligence and social skills helped him have a successful college career and he had seemingly normal relationships with women. It seemed, to the world, that he was a stable person but in reality, on his darker side, he attacked and killed several women in different cities between 1974 and 1978. As he had grown up, He showed the world a certain perfection but inside his mind there were dark and ghoulish secrets.

28 murders and he became famous

He confessed a total of 28 murders but it is estimated that he was actually responsible for hundreds of deaths. He was sentenced to death in 1979 for the murder of two university students, the following year he was again sentenced to death for the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl. In 1989, as we pointed out at the beginning of this article, he was executed. His execution took place in the electric chair.

Despite the heinous nature of his crimes, Ted Bundy became famous, especially after escaping custody in Colorado in 1977. He was a charming and intelligent man and this attracted public attention. In fact, his case has inspired him to create novels and films dedicated to his life or his way of killing.

It seemed that the popular media had transformed this criminal into a romantic and even desirable figure. He knew how to overcome childhood and supposedly before being a murderer, he became a successful person in society. He studied psychology and law and was even a candidate for governor of the state. He was also decorated for taking a child out of drowning and doing community activities. In his perfect life facing the world, he seemed like an exemplary citizen.

Although he had many recognitions in society, he did not feel integrated and became addicted to violent sex as an escape route from his most intense emotions ... something that later led to murder and sodomania. He had a certain fixation on young middle-class students with long, straight black hair.

Your modus operandi

He always had the same modus operandi: he attacked on university fields or near supermarkets in broad daylight. He would select a girl at random and ask her to help him into his car, showing that she had a broken arm and was in a sling. When the victim got close enough, he thrashed her with a bar and took her to some secluded place to sodomize her with twisted vexations. Then he killed them and performed necrophilic practices.

Of all the deaths he is accused of and all those that are supposed to have occurred, only 14 bodies were found ... It all started when he was arrested for his bad driving and The police found material in his car that indicated him as the murderer they had been looking for for some time.

Although he was imprisoned several times, he was also able to escape from prison to continue killing. He felt a compulsion and urge to kill. He was not afraid of being caught and therefore all this made him more sadistic. He was addicted to killing ... he needed to kidnap, rape and kill.

He always had a conduct disorder, which he manifested with his cruel behavior, without empathy ... Since he was a child, he captured, mutilated and butchered animals.

Was in love

In 1967 he fell in love with a college classmate named Stephanie Brooks. But she left him because he was immature and had no clear goals in his life. Ted became obsessed with her and always sent her letters to try to win her back, always unsuccessful. He dropped out of school and started working, but the jobs didn't last long.

In 1969 he began a relationship with Elizabeth Kloepfer, this relationship lasted 5 years but he kept writing and trying to reconquer his previous relationship. Later, over time, he resumed his love relationship with Stephanie Brooks, but she left him because she became an extremely cold person. It was from 1974 when he began to kill.

His life on death row

Although it was from 1979 when he was sentenced to death, it was Bundy who tried to delay his execution date as much as possible so that almost a decade later was when he was executed. He was working with the police to obtain further extensions of his sentence. While in jail he received letters from fans saying they loved him and while in jail he married Carole Ann Boone, a fan who believed in her innocence and had a daughter with her.

He allowed interviews to be conducted where he recounted his life and psychiatrists analyzed his mental state. Ted was indicated to have emotional lability, impulsiveness, immaturity, inferiority complex, self-centeredness and lack of empathy… among many other things.

Before executing him, he was asked if he had any last words and said:

"Jim [his defense attorney] and Fred [his minister], I would like you to give my love to my family and friends." After that, he was executed in the electric chair.
