How a man thinks, by James Allen, is one of the great classics of self-help. Part of a premise: change your thoughts and you will change your life. It is a set of philosophical reflections on the power of our thoughts.

Although his book, How a man thinks, has inspired millions of people around the world and has been a great influence in the self-help industry, very little is known about its author, James Allen.

He was born in Leicester, England, in 1864 and worked as a personal secretary to an executive of a large corporation until 1902. At the age of 38 he "retired" and moved with his wife to a small cottage in Ilfracombe, England. Wrote some 20 works before dying early at the age of 48.

Allen sought to improve himself, be happy, and master all virtues. His life became a search for happiness for man on earth. Allen insists on the power of the individual to form his own character and create his own happiness. Thought and character are one.

How a man thinks has influenced many contemporary writers such as Norman Vincent Peale, Denis Waitley and Tony Robbins, among others. His "little volume," as he called it, has been translated into the five major languages, inspiring millions of readers. Allen tells us how thought leads to action. The author shows us how to turn our dreams into reality …… His philosophy has brought success to millions of people.
