«LA BUENA SUERTE», a Spanish bestseller

Good luck. Keys to prosperity. It has already become a great global publishing success and is translated into 13 languages.

good luck

The book was written by two young Spanish professors from the business school Esade: Álex Rovira Celma, also author of The inner compass, ed. Active Company; and Fernando Trías de Bes
co-author together with the guru Philip Kotler de Side Marketing, ed. wiley.

In eight hours and "in a row", Rovira and Trías de Bes wrote a business fable that flooded bookstores around the world and that, unpublished, became an unprecedented publishing success.

What happened is the following: the original reached the hands of the editorial agents Isabel Monteagudo and Maru de Montserrat, of International Editors, who saw in it a possible international bestseller.

And they did not lack sight. In a short time the rights were acquired by prestigious publishers to more than 40 countries and has already been translated into 13 languages.

The play is an almost universal fable (a key character is the magician Merlin, for example) about the meaning of luck. The brave knights Sid and Nott go into the enchanted forest by different paths to search for the four-leaf clover that Merlin assured them would be born somewhere. Whoever manages to find it will possess unlimited luck.

In their search they meet different characters who they ask for help to achieve their goal. But Although they receive the same information, they do not interpret it in the same way.

What is the difference between luck and good luck? According to the authors, good luck is available to everyone, but only some are capable of creating the circumstances to have it. "Creating good luck is only about creating circumstances", say the authors who use their own book as an example. "Some will think that we have been lucky," they say, although what they have done is to create the conditions for that good luck.

Success in the USA.

The touchstone of the success of this book is its good acceptance in the North American publishing industry. The work caused a furor and there have been several major North American publishers that fought to get the rights to Good Luck: Creating Conditions, which is the title with which it was published in English.

Finally Susan R. Williams of Jossey-Bass bought the rights for the United States and for all the English-speaking countries: United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, Australia, Ireland or India, among others. This same publisher manages the translation rights in Russia, China and Israel.

In Spain, the publisher that published this book is Empresa Activa (la de Who has taken my cheese? o Fish).

The 9 rules of good luck.

Luck doesn't last long, because it doesn't depend on you. Good luck is created by oneself, that's why it lasts forever », It is the first of the nine rules of good luck that are described by Rovira and Trías de Bes in their fable. Much of the success of the book is due to the universality of these principles.

"Many are those who want to have good luck, but few who decide to go for it", "for good luck to come it is convenient to create new circumstances" ... are other ideas with which these authors build their story. And, to support the solidity of these theses, they cite authors such as:

1) Virgilio: «Luck helps the used ones».

2) Pablo Neruda: "Luck is the pretext for the unsuccessful."

3) Isaac Asimov: "Luck favors only the prepared mind."

4) Jacinto Benavente: "Many people think that having talent is luck, few however think that luck can be a matter of talent."

5) George Bernard Shaw: «Only the one who gets up and looks for the circumstances triumphs in the world, and believes them if they cannot find them».

6) Woody Allen: "90% of success is based simply on insisting."
