On both sides of the counter

Below, I reproduce a letter published in XL Semanal magazine. She has been the winner of a contest called "The best letter of the week".

Writes it Aurora MC, from Vizcaya.

After reading it, it leaves a very warm feeling in your whole being. A story that highlights the effect that some people have on us thanks to their good work. I hope it leaves you the same feeling that it has left me.

I work for the Administration, I attend to people.

That day I went in a hurry and with a significant state of anxiety to a tax office. He attended me slowly, patiently explaining each section of a form that was cumbersome to fill out. He overstepped his office hours, made sure I attended to everything.

Days later, when I delivered the form, He patiently and delicately went over each page again and checked for mistakes.

His attitude was a balm for me.

I went back a third time. Gratefully I told him that he had achieved much more to do his job, that in those days my mood was resentful, and that his attention and exquisite treatment were one of the best things that had happened to me.

He didn't just thank me. He got up, walked around his desk, and hugged me. He told me that I had just made the week for him too. And I cried (I am very crying).

I think about my work in any job, which so often goes beyond the simple obligation. Working with people is not easy, but it continues to give us the greatest satisfaction.

I also work in public-facing administration and it was very comforting to read the article. The problem is finding people like her!
