10 tips to manage time and be more productive

Before you check out these 10 time management tips, let me show you this video that in just 2 minutes will make you want to eat the world.

This video begins with a stark truth that you must accept and internalize to realize that you must take advantage of every minute of this life:

"Time is what we want the most, but it is what we use the worst." - William Penn

"Time is really the only capital that any human being has, and the only thing that he cannot afford to lose." - Thomas Edison

Would you like to have more time to do everything you have planned? Are you not making good use of your time? Would you like to be more productive?

The following ten tips are to help you master your time:

1. Hustle is not to be confused with productivity. Calmer people tend to be more productive than those who keep moving around trying to do 1000 tasks at once.

“BEING BUSY IS NOT ENOUGH, Ants are always busy. The question is, what do you keep busy with? Henry David Thoreau.

Short story: Taking advantage of time, by Jorge Bucay.

2. Do not confuse the urgent with the important.

"If you want to make good use of your time, you have to know what is most important and then focus on it." - Lee Iacocca

3. The key to time management is self-management.

The bad news is that time flies. The good news is that you are the pilot. " - Michael Altshuler

For tips on self-management, I invite you to read my article Self-discipline: time management.

4. Remember the 80/20 rule for time management. 80% of the importance of what we do in a day is found in only 20% of our activities. Therefore, if you focus on 20% of those important tasks, you will feel more productive and satisfied at the end of the day.

"One man gets only a week's worth in a year, while another man gets a full year's worth in a week." - Charles Richards

"I get paid not for the number of hours I work, but for the importance of the problems I solve." - Anonymous

5. Use a good planning for your day to day. An agenda is the best tool for time management.

6. Allow time for basic activities (eat, sleep, be with friends / family ...)

7. List: At the beginning of each day, write a list of key points of everything you would like to accomplish today.

8. Prioritize: Next to each item on the list, assign an "A" for an important task, a "B" for less important, and a "C" for tasks that may be expendable. Divide and conquer.

9. Put into practice what is indicated in the list: focus on tasks with an "A" rating. Cross off assignments when they are complete. With this system, even if you only manage to complete 20% of all the tasks on your list, you will have achieved 80% of the most important jobs.

10. What you don't finish today, transfer to your list for tomorrow and set new priorities.

Conclusion, when we manage our time wisely, we can be at our best productive level so that we can enjoy life and rest more.
