15 essential tips for my kids

Parents will never stop giving advice to our children.

Choose a series of essential tips you would give your children about life in general. Some will be left with 5, some with 10, some with 50. Keep in mind that these tips are relevant to anyone regardless of age.

These are my 15 essential tips to give my kids:

1) Adults are just older children.

When you get older you won't feel as old as you imagined. The vast majority feel the same as when they were 20, only a little wiser and more confident. You will have had time to establish your place in the world and find out what is important to you. Don't be afraid of getting older. Always look ahead. Do things right and you will find your place.

2) New technologies advance too fast.

Technological advances sometimes relegate the simplest aspects of life to second place. Don't forget to enjoy being in contact with nature, a good (paper) book, appreciating the beauty of a sunrise and maintaining good social and family relationships.

3) Bad things will happen to you.

Your personal growth is put to the test in the face of unexpected problems in life. People lose jobs, have traffic accidents, serious illnesses, ...

When you're younger and things are going pretty well, this stark reality can be hard to visualize. However, bad times will come. Remember that emotional rage only makes things worse. Remember also that many tragedies are rarely as bad as they seem, and even when they are, they give us the opportunity to grow stronger.

4) Having a fighting and positive attitude can make a difference.

You can start right now to change your attitude to improve your quality of life.

5) Great results come when you focus your attention on small goals.

Focus your efforts on smaller areas. If you focus on big goals, the attention is scattered.

6) Love yourself. Make yourself your own priority.

Strive to be the 'me' you want to be. Nourish your mind and body. Educate yourself every day until you die.

7) Don't throw in the towel if you fail.

Put uncertainty and fear aside. If you fail you will not have wasted time, you will have gained experience. People rarely get it right the first time.

8) If you want to get something, you will have to give.

Supporting, mentoring, and making contributions to other people is one of life's greatest rewards. All your actions, good or bad, come back to you like a boomerang.

9) Don't waste your time fighting.

The vast majority of discussions between people are unproductive due to the closeness of both parties.

10) Don't try to impress everyone.

Impressing people is an act that brings nothing but an absurd ego boost.

11) Have fun.

With all the responsibilities in life, fun sometimes seems like an indulgence. It should not be like that. It should be a must. Set aside time each day to have fun.

12) Be simple.

The people I admire the most are the simplest people, regardless of their economic or social status.

13) Manage your time.

Be careful not to confuse the things that are essential in life (enjoying your family, laughing with your friends,…) with the things that are important.

14) Manage your money.

Austerity is a great value. The more things you have, the less you value them. Don't buy things you don't need. Don't spend more than you earn.

15) What is learned in school is important.

Although you may not believe it, everything you learn is stored in your subconscious and the day will come when you will know how to apply your knowledge.

I comment that the first advice is: Love God, who created everything, heaven and earth, and every day he gives you the spirit of life so that you can enjoy his wonderful and loving creation
