5 manipulative strategies

People sometimes do not understand each other and use tricks or strategies to try to assert our position. It is something intrinsic to our ego and the desire to seek truth or objectivity is lost.

If we know the manipulative strategies that people usually use, we can emerge victorious from any trap:

1) Use of complex words to explain something simple.

Especially in the business world, complex jargon and obfuscation is a tactic frequently used to intimidate the other person.

2) Use of a position of authority.

You are much more likely to be persuaded by someone you like or by someone who is in a position of authority.

Example:

A policeman tells you: "We came to search his request." And since he is a policeman, (even if he never shows you a search warrant) you believe that it is his right.

3) Make a reasonable request second.

Example:

"Do you want to donate 100 euros to our cause?" "I can't afford it" "Oh. Well, could you donate 5 euros, then? "

4) Draw vaguely related conclusions.

Example:

This is baby food fortified with vitamins and minerals. It is very healthy. If you are still buying other kinds of baby food, you are neglecting your baby's health. »

5) The illusion of scarcity.

If the product is in short supply, there must be a lot of demand, right? Often times, scarcity is an illusion designed by the product manufacturer since products (and opportunities) seem much more attractive when there is limited availability.
