Do you want a change in your life? This is the secret

Written by @ psycholocos2

Congratulations. If you are reading this article, then you are encouraged to have a change in your life ... Although in principle, you don't even know where to start.

Maybe this video serve as motivation to make a change in life. I suggest you take a look at it before continuing.

In this video I explain that any change in life involves a great effort and what is necessary to achieve the change. Below I explain a series of rules to change our life:

[You may be interested in The Power of the Positive Mind (practical example)]

Surely, you have heard on dozens of websites, articles, books, conferences, etc ... that the cultural, it is necessary, positive, obligatory to advance. They encourage you to change your life, your habits, your customs ... everything to achieve a goal. Be it concrete, like quitting smoking. Or more generally, how to achieve success, happiness, peace ...

All of the above is very interesting. Unfortunately, here I come to undo certain myths about "the change". Are you ready to start? Maybe what you read now puzzles you, disenchants ... or in the worst case, educates you.

The true nature of change

The change, actually, it's crap. Nobody wants to change. And before closing the article, please think about it: How far can you go to change? Would you be willing or willing to sacrifice what you have? Could you stop doing what you like so much? Would you leave behind that comfort zone that has given you security all this time? Because let's face it: we cannot change by doing exactly what we are doing now. Something must be left behind. Whether expensive or not. That is why I affirm: Nobody wants to change, and those who really do want to, it is because they have no choice.

If you have endured up to this line, it is up to you to decide. Do you really want to wait until you have no choice, or do you prefer to have an alternative?

Sorry to all the readers. But he had to give this introductory scolding. I promise you that from here on, you will begin to see things differently. In fact, we will be solving different questions.

Can we really change, or is it just an illusion?

If we are honest, the change for us is very progressive. Whatever it is. We will not notice any circumstantial change unless we look back in time, or are told by third parties.

For those who are not aware of our progression, they will have more perception of change. However, we ourselves to that progression, rather than calling it change, it is more accurate to call it evolution.

How long should a change last?

A change must be constant and consistent. That is, it must be durable over time and in multiple situations. Maybe it seems very technical to you? Well. Take "quitting smoking" as an example. Could we say that you have really quit smoking if you haven't touched a cigarette in just three days? Or could we say that you have definitely quit smoking if you only smoke at special parties? This is the rule of constancy and consistency. The rest is to apply a little common sense.

What do we really change about ourselves?

They will be able to sell you that you can change your life. But when push comes to shove, you'll know that it's not as simple as saying it.

Every act of ours is composed of either a thought, an emotion, an action, or both concepts at the same time. If you want to change your present, you would have to act on your beliefs (to vary your thoughts), your attitudes (and thus act on your emotions), and on your habits (and with it, modify your actions).

And most importantly, what do I need to change?

Whether in a therapeutic relationship, in a training session, or in your own home by yourself; every change requires three ingredients:

  • A Pair of objectives that marks your final goal. The more specific they are and the more staggered they are, the easier it will be to know what you must do to meet them.
  • Una and motivation keep you going. You can sustain your motivation with your own arguments (intrinsic motivation), or by an external reward (extrinsic motivation).
  • And lastly, a compensation. That is, a final meaning to your entire process of change. Something worth going down that road.

I know that even so, you have been wanting more. I know that now you need a couple more clues to know what else you need to change your life. Therefore, I advise you again to see this video that I showed you above, so that you can solve the doubts that you lack (that surely you have purposely left it for last).

If you liked this article, share it with all your friends. If any of them are debating with themselves to make a change in their life, they deserve to know this secret just like you.
