Juan Carlos Aguilar, the Monk, serial killer from Bilbao

Juan Carlos Aguilar, alias "The Monk", was arrested on Sunday in Bilbao accused of being a serial killer. With this headline I just found myself in the news right now. Surely many of you are the first time you hear his name but I followed him through social networks because I admired his work and his philosophy.

Yesterday there was his arrest. He had a gym in Bilbao with an impressive decoration typical of a Buddhist monastery. Inside they have found a Nigerian girl bound, dying and with clear signs of torture. Apparently, the girl was attacked on Saturday by Juan Carlos, who kept her in his power until today that she has been rescued by the Ertzaintza (the Basque autonomous police). Right now, the medical services are trying to save this girl's life. Before the police, he acknowledged that the previous week he murdered another person.

Bone remains have been found in his monastery and at his home, the scientific police have brought up a stretcher of the kind used to transport corpses. The police are looking at the garbage containers around his house. He is also looking at the well-known Bilbao estuary in case more bodies could be found.

He was venerated by his students in his monastery. His trusted persons claim that he recently told them that he suffered from a head tumor and that he was becoming more and more violent. Lately he was rarely seen in the monastery, he only came from time to time to make an exhibition. They comment that it seemed that he was losing his mind and considered himself the reincarnation of some kind of god.

I was impressed by knowing these facts because I considered him an example to follow both for his philosophy of life and for his way of making videos. Their website is a delight (it is out of service right now). His YouTube channel is called «Ocean of Tranquility». Apparently that tranquility was a mere facade. In his interior demons and internal struggles were stirred that have caused him to become a serial killer, a true psychopath.

However, Was he always a psychopath? How much truth is there about the fact that he suffered a tumor on his head and that made him more violent?

There are many issues to be resolved and From a psychological point of view I find it exciting. I am afraid that in these days there is going to be a lot of talk about him so I will update this article to put more information about all the horrible crimes committed by this man.
