Today is exactly 49 years since Winston Churchill died. That is why we wanted to pay tribute to him by rescuing some of his most curious anecdotes, his most famous phrases and four images that you surely have not seen of him.

1) Photographer Yousef Karsh was going to take a picture of Winston Churchill. However, Yousef, before photographing him, He walked over and took the cigar directly from Churchill's mouth. His discomfort was reflected in the photo. Source
2) During Prohibition in the United States, Winston Churchill publicly referred to the constitutional amendment banning alcohol as "An affront to the entire history of mankind". Churchill loved Scotch whiskey. Source
3) Churchill's brilliant oratory was created because he was a stutterer. However, he knew how to train hard to fully overcome this deficiency. Some of his speeches were planned weeks in advance by studying the topics to be discussed so that his stuttering did not surface. Source
4) Lady Astor, the first woman in the British Parliament, was constantly at odds with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. During a debate, Lady Astor declared that if she were his wife she would put poison in her tea. Churchill replied: «Madam, if I were your husband, I would drink it».
