Two girls are battling a rare form of cancer and They have become great friends after meeting through Facebook.
Robyn Duffy, 21, and Kirsten Smith, 23, were diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma last year and they underwent grueling rounds of chemotherapy at the same hospital.
However, The girls have become close friends after discovering on Facebook that they were practically neighbors.
They became friends after a message of support sent to Robyn on Facebook was seen by Kirsten. He contacted Robyn and the couple discovered that they were going to the same hospital for treatment. Below, Robyn Duffi:
Now they comfort each other in their attempt to overcome their illness and accompany each other during hospital appointments.
Robyn said:
“I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in September and I felt like I was the only person it was happening to. My friends and family were very supportive and I received many messages on Facebook. Then I got a message from Kirsten saying she was going through the same thing. "
Kirsten said: “When they told me I had Hodgkin, I was stunned. You don't expect to get cancer when you're young. ".
“When we started talking I was surprised because we were similar in age and we were being treated in the same hospital. And we lived only one street away!
We got together and it was a great comfort to know that someone understands what you are going through.
The girls are halfway through their cancer treatment.
This is not something I want on anyone, but somehow it helped me to know that someone like me was going through the same thing »Kirsten said.
