"Close emotions: 12 experiences with chronically ill patients", recommended book

close emotions

When talking about diseases, an associated word immediately and unconsciously comes to mind: "Sick."

On this subject, there are many and varied works that have been published, using the first-person view, that of the protagonist who lives a certain disease on his skin, showing that subjective experience. We offer a different way of seeing and experiencing everything that is a disease. For this, we have thought about the environment of the patient, about those people close to the patient, who have become caregivers -professional or not-, without thereby ceasing to have their own feelings.

It is possibly this approach that makes this book different, because - without forgetting the patient - it tries to keep in mind many of those people who, sometimes from almost anonymity, make it possible for those people who must fight every day to have the strength to keep going.

Thus, we have chosen twelve true stories so that many other authors develop them, showing their thoughts, their fears, their concerns, their illusions.

The central idea is to transmit everything that can be done from the reality of the patient, despite the irreversibility of his disease.

It is not a hymn to hope, but to life itself.
