We already saw the reaction of a deaf baby when hearing for the first time (thanks to a cochlear implant) his mother's voice. The Internet has filled the last year with videos of this style thanks to the rise of social networks.
The boy was born prematurely and has undergone several operations to treat his hydrocephalus. He lost his hearing due to an ear infection. That is why I am glad more than ever that a child who has suffered so much since he was born, has a moment of pure happiness and can perceive the world around you with your five senses:

Statistics
Approximately 28 million Americans are hearing impaired: from mild hearing loss to deafness.
Hearing loss can be difficult to diagnose in children and babies, as they have not yet developed communication skills. Sometimes parents may begin to notice that the baby does not respond to loud noises or the sound of voices. Hearing loss affects about 17 out of every 1.000 children under the age of 18.
Here are some important statistics:
1) Hearing loss is the third leading cause of chronic disability after arthritis and hypertension.
2) 60% of hearing loss is due to genetic causes.
3) Around 250.000 people would be good candidates for a cochlear implant.
4) In the United States, about 13.000 adults and about 10.000 children have cochlear implants. Source

Simply wonderful. Times like this are why medical research is worth investing in.
I would like to know if it is possible to implant a 27-year-old boy with several valve interventions in treatment of hydrocephalus, in Chile.
