Find out what cultural globalization is and its impact

Globalization is an effect that has exploded over the years due to society and its needs; doing what the world is interconnected from the economic, social, technological, political and especially the cultural sphere. Of course, it is a consequence that apparently seems positive, due to the achievements that have been achieved from it, such as the union of markets between different countries and the geographical expansion of these that meets the needs of any individual.

What is the globalization of cultures?

Another of the most outstanding results of such inclusion is the cultural globalization that has been responsible for distribute and receive civilization from various parts of the world and even mold them according to the receiving region. It is a subject of discussion and questioning, due to the acceptance of many for seeing it from a positive point of view of sharing customs, tradition and other peculiarities and the denial of others for believing that globalization has a negative impact on their identity.

In addition, it is not governed by data, numbers, strategies and other nomenclatures that the expansion of things has in the political, social and economic spheres.

So that the value judgment, whether positive or negative of this phenomenon, or the integration of various issues that accompany the matter to give greater weight or truthfulness to its valuation, is very subjective and will vary according to the thinking of the issuer.

This is because the phenomenon of globalization has had a great impact, in addition to having also caused great enthusiasm in some sectors and in turn has also caused strong rejection in others, known as anti-globalization.

According to studies, in the cultural sphere it is a fact that globalization affects in some way or another the identity of many corners of the world and that it is something that has been happening since the origin of the effect. However, it has been proven that the situation is not so polarized and limited to 'believe or not believe'.

What is harmful would depend on certain characteristics according to the people. One of the most appropriate examples to explain the above is that in populations with little or a very small identity, trends or role models begin to be imposed that begin to be highly consumed by the inhabitants. And they reveal an alien acculturation; what bothers some, and makes others feel according to what is lived.

This, on the other hand, is different for countries that have a very preponderant identity, since their set of characteristics is so grounded that the contribution of other cultures simply opens the way to a diversity, development and exchange of ideas, universal thought and other terms of inclusion both in the technological and scientific of his people.

Although there are several channels through which cultural and general globalization occurs, there are some channels that are more notable and outstanding than others, such as television and the internet, which are a worldwide communication that allows the exchange of different cultures and between them; in fact, it impacts society through unconscious processes that make viewers adopt certain traits.

The other more notorious form is a little more conscious and is executed with intention, since cultural globalization begins to be broadcast with a model of production, consumption and entertainment, as for example happens with gastronomy, music, way of dressing, among other. This route in particular is also quite controversial due to the high consumption by people, causing people to give rise to complaints about the economic sphere.

One of the complaints most expressed by the population to the aforementioned approach is that due to the economic development caused by globalization in countries -monetarily stable- it makes the “rich become rich” but it is more difficult for those with low resources to adapt. or survive the situation. Another consequence that people demand from the imposition of globalization is to give a false idea of what certain countries are, causing people to emigrate from their city of origin to seek the quality they see in other places.

McDonald's, Coca Cola, English as a universal language, among others, are a clear example of what people expose in terms of cultural globalization. Having adherents and denials of the things that characterize North American culture.

Although the effect seems not to be entirely positive, it continues to grow and add cultures from the most remote corners of the world; this mainly due to the evolution of the internet and its increasingly perfect ability to exchange information.

For those who miss the particular way of living, eating, interacting with others, entertaining, among other customs that societies maintained, it will not be very easy to resume it, since it would imply a delay when there was a communication difficulty that allowed the difference of customs between places.

And although each group of people could have an independent culture, based on the integration of personal experiences, thoughts, ideas and feelings that in the end are consolidated through organizations, events, among others. There are a series of alien and distant characteristics that due to technology are known and shared between individuals.

There is no possibility of getting rid of it simply because you want to, and many times choosing this option is linked to a denial that makes it impossible to access certain benefits, either economic and / or social.

Despite the difference of ideas and questioning of people, it is worth pointing out some consequences of cultural globalization that are positive worldwide. Among these is the rapid spread throughout the world of the most widely spoken languages; also the various ideas that aim to fight and ensure the preservation and execution of human rights, as well as the hypotheses that defend and position the importance of the form of democratic social organization that many believe is the political model that should be adopt by all nations to achieve harmony.
