Develop a powerful human mind

Develop a powerful human mind

Today I have the opportunity to present to you a magnificent introduction by Richard Gere on the incredible potential that Buddhism has for develop a powerful mind:

We live in a fortunate time. You may think I am referring to modern times. I mean, actually, that Buddhism has taken root in the West.

Until recently the qualified teachers of the mahayana buddhism outside of Asia they were few and far between. We had to travel far to find profound teachings on compassion, emptiness, Karma and enlightenment.

Today it is an incredible gift that we can learn the ascent teachings of the Buddha.

With Buddhism you will learn techniques to make your life more meaningful.

Despite the achievements of science and technology, we still don't know much about the mind and its potential. Yet 2.500 years ago, Shakyamuni Buddha got to know the full potential of the mind. He understood that the mind is not only the brain. The mind is beginningless and creates our experience of the world, because what we perceive as reality is a function of the mind.

Not only can we eradicate disturbing emotions, such as anger, but we can consciously progress to the highest possible stage of evolution: Buddhahood.

Every living thing has the potential to achieve this unlimited state of wisdom and compassion.

Buddhism teaches us that as we understand the true nature of our mind, we become happier, more peaceful, and better able to deal with our problems, which makes us better able to help others.

So far the introduction of Richard Gere.

The potential is there and anyone can see it. I'm going to leave you the link of a news item from yesterday (January 30, 2.011). It is in English but I summarize it in 3 lines so that you can see to what extent some Western governments (in this case the English government) are betting more and more on meditation as a tool for personal development:

"A public school in the county of Lancashire (a county in England) will be part of the first group of free education schools where meditation will be taught for the first time." Daily thousand

I leave you with one of my favorite quotes:

"Recollection and meditation are the first powers of man."

Thanks for reading me. Have a great day and I hope you reach your calm of mind.
