I have found a video about a story by Jorge Bucay. He tells us a story that reveals a curious and fanciful way of putting a stop to that fear of rejection that many people feel.
Before seeing it, let me tell you some thoughts.
The fear of rejection arises from a need for approval. We want to be part of a group or for a certain person to accept us. That need becomes an obsession and it seems that the world ends if we are rejected. Is this true? Will the sun stop rising tomorrow if a certain person or group rejects us?
Obviously not. Fortunately there are millions of people in the world with whom we can connect. Just relax and don't get obsessed with pleasing anyone other than yourself.
Is it easy to overcome the fear of rejection?
Obviously not. Adolescents are more likely to suffer from this type of fear because at that time, friends are a high priority. These are turbulent times that end up passing and if you have stayed true to yourself, a day will come when you will flourish. You will go from being the ugly duckling to a beautiful swan and, best of all, your mental strength will be unbeatable.
The key to everything is in not depend on anyone so that your face draws a smile.
Watch the video and stop to reflect a little on this absurd fear:
