When applied to education

The educational system has always been in evolution and knowledge has always been rigidly and almost unilaterally transmitted. This has always limited the ability of the student to interact with learning, making memory but not understanding the protagonists of a learning that would soon become oblivion. With this in mind, it is normal that there was little real impact on students and that the true potential of people could not be exploited.

Education has always been focused on teachers, regardless of the thinking of the students, it was not necessary to think about what they felt or how they were. But the reality is that students' emotions are more important than anything else, because without emotion, there is no learning. Education must. Being student-centered, in fact, the humanistic paradigm knows this and focuses on them so that learning is real.

Students, in this paradigm, are understood to be individual beings who have their own ideas and who have the potential and the sufficient capacity to grow, learn and all this, linked to personal experiences.

When a teacher imparts education under the humanist paradigm, he has a position of human flexibility. For this, some important criteria are taken into account:

  • Interest in the student as a unique person with their own idiosyncrasies
  • Be aware that teaching is constantly evolving
  • Foster a good teaching and learning environment
  • Foster a cooperative learning system
  • Not having an attitude of being superior to the students
  • Reject any authoritative teaching and learning stance

In this way the student will begin to promote their own learning with greater motivation and interest. Students will learn best through discovery because they will actively participate in the process of gaining their own knowledge.
