Look at the age of one of the scientists looking for the cancer vaccine ... wooow

Today is the world day against cancer so I have proposed to look for some curiosity about this scourge and incidentally leave you a video that talks about the importance of good habits to prevent cancer.

The scientist who developed the vaccine to combat leprosy is Venezuelan and his name is Hyacinth Convit. At 101 years old, he is still working to find a vaccine for cancer.

On June 7, 2010, a Venezuelan newspaper announced that Convit was successfully developing a vaccine against breast and stomach colon cancer. During this time a small group of 23 patients has been evaluated, most with breast cancer and some with colon, stomach and brain cancers.

Researchers have been giving patients an experimental model of cancer immunotherapy that has had promising results. However, researchers have clarified that it is a therapeutic treatment, not a vaccine.

Hyacinth Convit

Jacinto Convit received the 1987 Prince of Asturias Award in the category of Scientific and Technical Research.

This treatment is based on the idea that cancer cells appear and spread because the body does not detect them. A sample of the tumor mixed with formalin and a vaccine against tuberculosis, "marks" the malignant cells, so the immune system reacts and attacks the cancer.

Let's hope that this great Venezuelan doctor lives a few more years to be able to find the solution to a treatment capable of increasing survival rates of patients afflicted by this damn complex disease.

I leave you with the video "The importance of good habits to prevent cancer":
