"The Japanese Way to Live to 100 Years" by Takahashi Junko

The Japanese method of living 100 years

Thanks to Ivoox's Twitter account, I have known an interview that they do with Junko Takahashi, a Japanese journalist who has written a book entitled "The Japanese way to live 100 years".

Lately I am quite interested in how to improve my health through my diet and my lifestyle. This book is about it, so I leave the interview here for anyone who is interested:

Japan is the land of centenarians so I find it very interesting to know what the centenarians of this country eat and how they live.

This book is available on Amazon here.

SOME OF THE KEY ASPECTS OF THE BOOK

One of the author's conclusions is that there is no magic recipe that will lead us to live 100 years.

One of the common characteristics of Japanese centenarians is that they eat little. The author recommends never being satisfied with food, we must fill our stomach up to 80%, that is, do not eat until we burst.

Another aspect highlighted by the author is that centenarians chew their food a lot and they take their time to eat, there is no rush. He recommends chewing your food at least 30 times. One of the tricks is to look at a calendar from day one to day 30 while chewing.

They are also very physically active, they even do aerobic exercises like swimming or running. Doing housework is also seen as a way to exercise.

With regard to health, They attach great importance to monthly checkups.

Many continue to work, there is even a doctor who is 104 years old and continues to practice his profession.

Another aspect that the author deals with in her book is love. A feeling that many of them did not know since marriages were formerly forced. Many of them said they "had no other choice," especially among women.

Have an active mind It is also very important since dementias stalk people who meet these ages. The intention is to live 100 years but in a good physical and mental state.

Obesity is longevity's greatest enemy. Japan is being invaded by western food.

Something very interesting is the concept of calisthenics. In Japan they perform a type of calisthenics that consists of an exercise that consists of 13 movements that is performed to the rhythm of music.

If you want to delve a little more into this book, I leave you another interview that they did with the author:

These types of topics seem very interesting to me because If we want to be emotionally strong, we must take care of our physical health.
