Mindfulness for cancer patients

A few days ago I wrote the article titled Mindfulness techniques show health benefits in which I talked about the incredible benefits of this technique to improve our quality of life.

This meditation technique is also used for patients diagnosed with cancer. A controlled study of 90 cancer patients who did mindfulness meditation for 7 weeks gave the following results: 31% had fewer symptoms of stress and 65% had fewer episodes of mood disturbance.

Some studies have also suggested that practicing meditation improves the chance of a positive outcome. However, the reality is that the available scientific evidence does not suggest that meditation is effective in treating cancer or any other disease but can help improve the quality of life for people with cancer.

However, regular meditation can reduce chronic pain, anxiety, high blood pressure, cholesterol, substance abuse, and blood levels of cortisol (the stress hormone), as well as reduce use of health services. Health.

Doctors also say that meditation improves mood, immune function, and fertility. Supporters further claim that meditation efficiency increases mental self-awareness, all of which contribute to relaxation.

By practicing Mindfulness, the cancer patient uses concentration to relax the body and calm the mind. The patient learns to guide his attention. It is a useful and complementary therapy for the treatment of chronic pain and sleep problems such as insomnia. Some cancer treatment centers offer meditation as a supplement to standard medical care. Source

Then I leave a video with an example of a mindfulness practice:
