Motivation to study hard: 9 tips

Before seeing these 10 tips that will help you study better, I would like you to see this video of David Cantone in which he also gives us some tips to study quickly and get good grades.

Whether you are in school, high school, university or studying a master's degree, these tips will come in handy:

Applying to studies has never been an easy task but here I leave you 9 tips that will motivate you to study hard.

study hard

1) Be curious about the subject you are studying.

When you are interested in the subject you are studying, things become much easier. Find out how what you are studying can be applied in life. There are many ways to make a topic interesting when you adopt a curious attitude.

By awakening the innate curiosity that is in you, you will be able to study anything. It only takes an initial effort to arouse that curiosity.

2) Establish a study schedule at the right time.

Establish a daily study schedule. It is good to plan your day in advance. Set a specific time to study and a time to play or relax. You may be studying hard now but you know that later you will be enjoying yourself.

One tip: always put studying first when planning your day. If you think you should watch TV or relax a bit before studying, you are making a big mistake. This will only make it harder for you to start studying. The first step is always the hardest.

Also when it comes to establishing study schedules, it is good to schedule your study time at the time of day when there are fewer distractions. It is also good to choose the time when you are in your optimal state of mind to study.

3) Starting to study: the 5 minute challenge.

The hardest part is getting started. The first step is always the hardest. After this first effort, everything will be easier for you. This is because once you have the momentum it is easy to keep going.

This advice-motivation to study hard can help you get started. Here's what you can do: As long as you're not motivated to start studying, consider studying for 5 minutes. That's it, just 5 minutes. Think that you are going to be studying seriously for 5 minutes and then you will stop.

Usually after 5 minutes you will want to continue studying more. Yes it's correct. It's a trick. The key here is to make sure that during those 5 minutes you are going to study 100%. Not dreaming or distracting yourself with other things.

4) Stop and start in the most interesting part.

By having to stop to rest, eat or other activities, you can do it in the most interesting or pleasant part of your study. This way, it will be much easier to start when you decide to study later.

5) Eliminate distractions from your surroundings.

Obviously this is very important for your study. If you have the TV, the telephone, the computer, magazines, etc. near you you can easily succumb to the temptation to put your books aside.

6) Before you start studying, enter a strong state of motivation.

Take 5 minutes before you start studying to achieve the right frame of mind. Turn off any kind of music, sit down, clear your mind, and breathe deeply. Repeat a phrase that motivates you or make some visualizations and meditate on your future achievements. Visualize yourself happy studying.

7) Establish an area of study that is as favorable as possible.

The environment can play an important role in motivating you to study. Imagine that you are studying in a dimly lit, hot room with loud music. Or, in a quiet and bright room with the right temperature and good ventilation. What environment would make you feel more motivated to study?

Place all the notepads and reference books in your study area.

8) Set goals.

Goal setting will give you more motivation. The sense of satisfaction of accomplishment is also a good confidence booster.

Set goals such as how many sections or chapters you plan to study in a time frame.

9) Give yourself a prize.

Lastly, reward yourself immediately for a job well done. It doesn't need to be something important, just simple things like enjoying a glass of ice cream, watching your favorite TV show, or calling friends for a chat. Of course, also give yourself great rewards when you achieve important achievements.

10) Phrases that will motivate you:

To finish I leave you some phrases that can inspire you:

«Youth is the time to study wisdom; old age, to practice it. "

Jean-Jacques Rousseau

"Studying with effort and positivism always brings good rewards."

Anonymous

"The only profession that does not need preparation is that of an idiot, for the rest you have to study."

Hello, my problem is related a little to motivation, specifically in the part of concentrating. Before I used to study with great interest and be very professional when reading, but since I entered university I get very stressed when I try to read something, at the moment I have to read six chapters of a book for a laboratory practice, I have barely managed to read two but very hard since the simple fact of knowing everything I have to read makes me lazy and I don't want to be like that, thank you very much in advance.

    1.    Daniel said

Hello Andrés, many times the problem lies in the beginning… on the subject of laziness. You can try the five minute rule. When you go to study, propose that the first five minutes you are going to do your best to concentrate and do it well. Once the five minutes have passed, you will see that your brain is more fluid and that you even want to continue.

Hello. By chance I have found this and I take the opportunity to ask you several questions because the truth is that lately I am quite overwhelmed with the issue of my daughters' studies. The older than 15 years is in 4th year of ESO, she is not a bright girl but based on Effort and work has always gotten good grades but this course has brought the first 2 failures of his life in Maths and Physics, he keeps repeating that he does not find out, that they do not enter him and the worst thing is that he does not stop saying that he does not know What is the use of studying if nobody has a job? The median of 12 studies 1st year of ESO and is a girl of Remarkable and outstanding but because it "broods", however, reasoning or having common sense is difficult for her. Today, without going any further, reviewing the world climatology with her, I asked her to locate me on a world map, Spain, one of the continents ... and I had no idea. I was left blank. Is it the system? At his age I was tired of making physical and political maps!

    1.    Daniel said

Hello Mayca, as for your 15-year-old girl, she is at a difficult age in which there may be a slight drop in her grades. In any case, I don't think you have to worry too much about two failures (worry but fair enough). There are people who are pure letters: mathematics and physics seemed unintelligible to us.

I would recommend that your daughter use YouTube to solve doubts she has or to find videos that make her understand mathematics better. I leave you two channels that are dedicated to teaching mathematics:

      http://www.youtube.com/user/davidcpv?feature=watch
      http://www.youtube.com/user/julioprofe

In these channels there are problems of many levels of difficulty. In any case, you can use the youtube search bar to search for a problem or topic that you have questions about.

As for what you tell me about your second daughter… I have criticized the educational system several times on this blog. It is based a lot on memorization and in my opinion we learn many things that are very far from our interests and practical life. Very little meaningful learning takes place so the concepts learned last very little in memory.

I would recommend the same to your first daughter. That you use YouTube as a didactic complement. In this way, you can find an extra incentive and it is a tool that is closer to today's children.

      Greetings.

      1.    mayca said

Thank you very much for your answer and your advice, which by the way gives me another question: I was in her day of pure letters and I fully understand that math or physics are unintelligible but she loves biology and would like to study physiotherapy. I already advised him in his day (I don't know if it was good or bad) that if he took science he would always carry that burden but he would fight for what he really liked. Now, the option of choosing the branch of humanities in high school is already being considered. In your opinion, what would be the most sensible thing to do? On the other hand, I did high school and I think that when you finish you don't have a specific preparation. Being a hard-working but not brilliant student and being so unmotivated, wouldn't it be preferable for her to do a training cycle related to what she liked? Thanks again.

        1.    Daniel said

Difficult question that you ask Mayca. I am one of those people who think that we have to do what we like. You can try biology because it would be on track with your tastes. If your career is twisted due to the difficulty of your studies, you will always be on time to do some training cycle related to physiotherapy.

As you can see, I have not solved much for you, it is a difficult question. I hope to give my children the opportunity to dedicate themselves to whatever they want.

          Kind regards.

Honestly I was studying ... I hope they tell me if I am on the right track since I have started to study again for myself multiple hours although it costs me but reading this watching that video has helped me with things. Thanks and Greetings to all I hope an answer 😀 Ah! And I'm only 19 years old.

  19.   Richard said

The truth is that it costs me a little to study mathematics more than anything because I cannot understand them and know that they have so many properties to solve that I get frustrated and it is difficult for me to study ... any advice?

    1.    Jasmine murga said

      Hi Richard,

Math has always been my weak point too! I know it's hard, but what if you try to find the fun side of them? It sounds like self-deception but it works 😉 Attitude is the most important thing and if you feel frustrated or negative before starting to study, it is most likely that those emotions affect your learning. On the other hand, try to see what helps you to memorize. Are you more visual, that is, do you need to see things in writing? Make summaries, using colors, symbols, etc. Or maybe you need to repeat the same exercises over and over again? Or is it better for you to imagine the situation as if it were real? Make associations?

If you can ask someone to give you private lessons, all the better. But look for someone who really helps you, not someone who makes you feel worse with comments like "Nooo, I already told you that it is not."

Learning can be fun, believe me. The important thing is to find the best method that works FOR YOU.

      Luck!

      Jasmine

this ... excuse me but it is difficult for me to study because I get distracted very easily, sometimes I am reviewing the classes but suddenly I start to think about something else or I get distracted on the laptop ... I never liked studying but I like math and science, I am in 7th grade and until this year I have dropped my grades ... this I have completely lost my motivation and my dream, I don't know what to do since my father and my sisters want to force me to go to school and that frustrates me a lot, I get angry easily and I get depressed

Sorry if it is something complicated but what do you recommend doing, my grades are very bad in language, social and English, more in social, that you could recommend me to have my mind more focused. Thank you

Hello, I am 12 years old and hyperactive, and I must say that studying is horrendous for me. The biggest of my problems related to this is that I always think that before studying I could use a game or something to do with my friends to relax, but then time flies by and I don't have time to study. What I do?

  31.   Karen said

Hello, my problem is that this year I started university and I am studying the career that I like which is a degree in archeology, but for a long time I have felt that I am not performing as I imagined, nor do I feel motivated to start studying and I feel guilty already that my parents make a huge effort for me to study and I feel that if I do not study and perform well I will disappoint them, and there is also the pressure that if we do not obtain high marks we cannot be awarded scholarships or enter the Conicet.

    1.    Kelly said

I admit that I was always interested in studying but since I did not have the support of my parents, I was demotivated. I got to work and it was where I started to like money (shopping, walks, movies, good food, little outings etc ...) and without realizing it, the years passed and I realized that all that made me happy at the time , it no longer made me happy in the present. The clothes were worn out, the friends left, the walks tired me ... some time later I went on a trip to the department where I was born after 7 years of finishing school, and I saw that most of my school promotion was professional and they are working in his career, important positions, and me? . I realized that I must have followed the path that my friends took. I feel very sad now because I wasted my life, now I work manually and it is heavy, I feel pain because of the physical effort I make, I recently started studying, but I feel unmotivated when thinking and stressing about the bad decisions I had. I torment myself x being an older student and seeing that young girls of 17 or 18 who are my classmates, are very prepared at their age, I am demotivated and I lower my self-esteem when comparing myself with them ...
I hope I can move forward, be someone and leave everything past behind, I need a strong motivation along with action to be able to move forward ... I pray to God I am doing very well. I have to achieve it and I swear I will !!!… ..before I arrive at class exhausted from work… I will achieve it !!! TT

      1.    Maria said

Hello, I felt the same, but I managed it despite the obstacles and above all because of them, every time someone told me that I could not, it motivated me to be able. In addition, past decisions always serve something, even to know what you do not want. So cheer up that you can for sure !!

On the contrary, you are the perfect motivation within that group of young students. Why? Because the teachers will tell you: »If Kelly can, why can't you? I, for my part, am 21 years old. Thanks, Kelly. I came here looking for motivation, and your comment had more effect on me than the article itself. Fight for what you want, that when you achieve it you will feel twice as happy.

One should not compare oneself with others to improve oneself ... but rather with oneself. Only then will one overcome barriers without lowering self-esteem. Age does not matter but the attitude to do things does. Nothing is written ... neither whoever studies and succeeds professionally guarantees to be happy nor whoever harvests cotton under the sun's rays guarantees unhappiness.

But not now, now I have no motivation, I am not able to spend even half an hour concentrated .. and even though I think I have to studying because it will benefit me and it still matters to me, I don't. Please, I need help, I want to have the same motivation and concentration as before. Thanks in advance.

set small goals to achieve it, it has never happened to me like you, I left school 3 years later I wanted to resume it but I was older so I finished it in an "open" school with a good average, the reason I left it was because I did not have an objective, a reason and less a goal, although I still do not know what career, I know that I want to travel abroad and study but there are many expenses and that is why my goal is to get a scholarship to obtain it I must maintain an excellent average and hence the small goals, you just have to think about tomorrow in the children literally think seriously think about what you will do in certain situations, focus on that life is like a game but with rules, I recommend you listen to the yukoi kenji lectures it will really cheer you up Everyone can, with 17 years old, I will barely enter high school but there the difference will come in with everything more mature, focused and eager and most importantly with many goals

LOVE PRAYER spell to think of you! With great faith! Read this sentence carefully and do what it tells you without ignoring the steps it asks you to follow, because otherwise you will only get the opposite results of what you ask for. Think of the person you want to be with and say their name to you 3 times. Think about what you want to happen to this person in the next week and repeat it for yourself 6 times. Now think about what you want with that person and say it once. and now say .. Ray of light I invoke you to dig up -name of the person- where he is or with whom he is and make him call me in love and repentant today. Dig up everything that is preventing -his name- from coming to me -our name-. Set aside all those who contribute to us moving away and that he does not think more of other women than only think of me -our name- That he call me and love me. thank you, thank you for your mysterious power that always fulfills what is asked of it. Then you have to post the sentence three times, on three different sites. with great faith and in advance I thank you for your mysterious help

    Good afternoon,

I am studying a master that made me very excited and for which I have saved for a long time. But it has turned out to be a disappointment, we have almost no content or classes, the teachers are very arrogant and make no effort and, despite being an international master, they treat foreigners quite badly.

I am studying a subject and although I have never had problems concentrating, now I have them due to my frustration (we have not had any classes, the contents to study were scarce and poorly translated into English, one of the teachers did not appear in the review of the exam and the other refused to answer questions by email)

Any advice to stay motivated and be able to focus?

    Hello

I am in second year of high school and I regret the modality I have chosen.
Last year it was already difficult for me to start studying although I managed to pass everything but this year I don't feel like doing anything.
Even though I have exams, I don't feel pressured and I study even less.
I'm suspending pretty much everything but languages.
Now I have recoveries and I am not doing anything, what little I did, that the truth was the only subjects that I seriously studied at Christmas, I have also failed it and it is very demotivating.

hey, I'm still young, I'm 16 years old and like many of you I no longer feel like studying, but at the same time I feel that need to overcome, and as a person, to be better at giving myself and my family a life of better quality, currently I study in a special school where only the best students enter, although it is not true there are many that I consider that they should not enter, but if they want to, they will probably overcome, in short, what happens is that the routine in this school is something exhausting, constant evaluation and what I consider that affects me the most is that the hours of classes are from 7:0 am to 7:00 pm; I know that thanks to this school I have learned many things, I have mastered 3 languages but all this had its price, it took away my youth, I don't have much time for myself

I am studying at a distance and last year I felt unmotivated and I was about to give up but something inside me told me DON'T GIVE UP
This year I'm going to screw it up with everything and ending it is two years of sacrifice and effort.
It is as the phrase says: TIREDNESS IS TEMPORARY AND SACTIFATION IS FOREVER

Hello! I am 18 years old and I am in the first year of engineering. Since I said I was going to study it, everyone keeps telling me that it is very difficult and complicated, so much so that even my parents doubt me. They ask me if I can, that if it is not very difficult, that they do not want me to be suspending with everything they have to pay. The worst thing of all was when I told a former high school teacher and she said “I don't see you in engineering. I used to change, because engineering is difficult »I mean, do they see me with a stupid face to tell me that? Do they not understand what I would like to do?

I started the course with that fear, that it was all difficult and complicated; and there was also the factor that I did not give technical drawing in high school. At first I relaxed a bit when I saw that the syllabus was practically the Baccalaureate plus a few other things.

The problem is when I started taking the exams, I never imagined that they would be so… complicated. When I looked at my exams and the grade I got (failure), everything that people said came to my mind, but immediately the words of an ex-partner invaded my mind and motivated me to continue, he heard how the teacher of mate She looked down on me in this career and when she left she told me «You're smart, you'll see that you can. you just have to study, like everything. Don't be discouraged, okay? I know you can". They do not know how much strength his words have given me, I think that if he had not told me that I would have already abandoned. Thank you for giving me strength to continue!

Now I just want to show everyone that I can do engineering, even though I'm working, I know I can. And I'm going to do it!

The exams begin tomorrow. Go for everything with them!
