pamper your mind

I have the pleasure to recommend you an excellent book by César García-Rincón de Castro qualified «Pamper Your Mind. Readings and Exercises to Tone and Flex Your Thoughts. »

César García-Rincón de Castro tells us about his book

Every morning we fix our hair before leaving the house, why not the mind? Every night we brush our teeth, remove make-up, get ready to go to sleep, but only physically, and why not mentally?

Neuroscience has highlighted that the mind is plastic and programmable, that we can access it because now we know the keys, and in this way we can program it and even "repair" it. It's fantastic, don't you think? In addition, exercising it often and freeing it of toxic thoughts and images helps us to grow in every way and to improve exponentially.

In this e-book I propose a series of exercises to keep our minds healthy, flexible, productive and fit, as simple metaphors based on NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). But the best thing is that, before buying the book, you experiment a little, that's why I leave you here with one of those exercises in the book based on "anchors":

Anchors in NLP consist of visual stimuli (a color, a landscape, a photo), auditory (a sound, a tone of voice, a word) and / or kinesthetic (an object, a caress, a thermal or other sensation ) that connect with a certain state or emotion (security, confidence, tranquility ...) with which they have previously "anchored" and it is enough to provoke one of those stimuli so that our mind immediately causes the associated state or emotion. Let's put some examples to understand it better:

If a child felt the love and security of their parents while hugging their stuffed animal, just the stuffed animal afterwards can provide that feeling of love and security.
If you danced a song with the girl / or with whom you fell in love, that song will return years later to provoke feelings of love and tenderness in you. This is, for example, the emotional key of Casabalanca "Play it again, Sam."
If a teacher told you, congratulations! Because of your work while lightly pressing on your shoulder, just have someone press on your shoulder to reconnect with that feeling of personal competence and self-esteem.

What, then, is anchoring desired emotional states? Well, very easy: consciously use certain VAK stimuli (visual, auditory and kinesthetic) to associate them with the states and emotions that we want. They can be applied to other people and we can apply them to ourselves.

The procedure for anchoring involves three steps:

1. Connect, through imagination and in a state of calm or previous relaxation, with a situation that we have lived in which we have experienced that state that we want to provoke in ourselves.
2. In this situation of the past, look for some visual, auditory and / or kinesthetic keys that can help us as anchors in the present. To do this, you have to get into the situation and observe all the details, feel everything you can.
3. Apply an anchor formed, if possible, by the three submodalities of NLP observed in that past situation: visual (a color for example), auditory (a music) and kinesthetic (a smell, a taste, pressing or caressing an area of our body, a special object in our hands).

I for example, I was anchored at 14 while watching a friend play a song on the guitar (I had no idea): the emotions that her voice aroused in me, the smell of straw and basil (we were in the field in a camp), her beautiful image singing, were enough so that every time I later had a guitar and I was thinking of her, that feeling came to me. From then on I began to study guitar, to practice a lot: today I am a composer and an experienced guitarist ...
