Time Management (and its relation to self-discipline)

Working hard does not necessarily mean doing work that is difficult. It simply means spend time correctly to achieve your goals.

Our collaborator and psychologist Álvaro Trujillo shows us in this video how we can learn to manage time to achieve our goals.

After the video you will have more information about learning to manage time, but before that, let's hear what Álvaro has to say:

[If you have any kind of problem or concern or you simply want to learn to manage your time in a personalized way, you can visit Álvaro Trujillo's online office here]

Imagine you have a baby. You will spend a lot of time changing diapers. But that's not very hard work; it is just a matter of doing the same operation over and over again many times a day.

There are many tasks in life that are not necessarily difficult, but collectively require a significant investment of time. If you don't have the discipline to do them, your life may end up in chaos. Just think of all the little things you have to do: shopping, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, paying bills, home maintenance, babysitting, etc. And this is for home only. They are things to do.

self-discipline and learning to manage time

Self-discipline requires developing the ability to spend time where it is needed. A lot of trouble is created when we refuse to take the time to do what needs to be done.

Sometimes it is clear what needs to be done. Sometimes it is not clear at all. But ignoring the clutter won't help. If you don't know what to do, the first step is to realize it. This may require you to educate yourself. To start this blog two months ago, I had to acquire a series of knowledge during a whole year. I took time to train myself by reading other blogs and evaluating various tools to get the most out of my blog. It was not difficult for me, but a significant investment of time is required.

Time management

There are many problems in life where the solution is largely an investment of time. If your daily schedule is overloaded, this is not a difficult problem. I guarantee that you have the intellectual capital necessary to handle it. It's just a matter of time.

If you can find a way to avoid a one-time fix and find a faster or better way to bypass or eliminate the problem, take advantage of it. Delegate, do what you can to remove the time burden. But if you know that it is something that will not be done except through your investment of personal time, then just accept it and do it. Do not complain. Do not complain. You just have to do it.

Develop your personal productivity

Time is a constant, but your personal productivity is not. Some people use the hours of their days much more effectively than others. It's unbelievable that people spend extra money to buy a faster computer or fuel efficient car, but they hardly pay any attention to improving their personal productivity. Your personal productivity will do much more for you than a computer or a car. If we give a 10-year-old computer to a time-efficient computer programmer, he will get more out of it in the course of a year than a lazy programmer with the latest cutting edge technology.

Despite all the technology and Gadgets that we have available and that can potentially make us more efficient, people's personal productivity reaches very low levels. Do not use technology to be more productive, it will only serve to hide your bad habits. However, if you are already efficient without technology, it can help you be even more efficient. Think of technology as a multiplying force.

Try to develop your personal productivity. Surely you will have the most unproductive days but finally your perseverance will pay off. I think a lot of people are drawn to the idea of being more productive. It doesn't take much intelligence to know that if you use your time more efficiently you will be able to complete more tasks, and therefore the desirable results in any area of your life will multiply. Personal productivity allows you to create enough space in your life to do all the things you feel like you need to do: eat healthy, exercise, work hard, deepen relationships, have a wonderful social life, and make a difference. Without a high level of personal productivity, you will probably have to give up something that is important to you. You will have conflicts between health and work, work and family, family and friends. Good time management can give you the ability to enjoy all of these things, so you won't have to choose between work or family, or vice versa. You can have both.
