On this day William Shakespeare died (which curiously coincides with the day of the book), one of the most important figures in the history of literature. He is credited with dozens of witty phrases that we like or inspire so much. Today, to commemorate the day of his death, I bring you 10 of his best phrases. 1) Shakespeare made up the name 'Jessica'. He did it in his work "The Merchant of Venice."

2) Shakespeare invented the word 'arrogance'. The word was first recorded in 1590, in his work "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
