The energy is in you

This week I was very amused by an ad for vitamins for teachers.
According to the slogan, "They activate you when you need it." It certainly seems like a great invention to me, if it were true. But every day I am more convinced that the energy is in you. The energy is in each one of us and not in external resources.
It is true that every day we find more energy drinks and supplements in specialized stores and supermarkets for when we are down.
I have nothing against them, but it seems to me that by themselves they are not effective at all, because in reality, as Edgar Torres affirms, "Medicine is the art of distracting the patient, while nature heals him". A phrase that I love and that makes clear what I consider a forceful truth.
Medicine does not have miraculous effects and, therefore, the attitude and determination of those who take these medicines is essential in their improvement and healing process.
 
However, some people tell me that it is very difficult to know how to develop that energy and potential that we all carry inside so as not to be down. To which I answer them: can you imagine the presenter of the depressed newscast? The ones who do the quiz shows, how come you always see them smiling and happy? Therefore, if they can, so can we. It's a matter of practice and determination. I propose a series of ideas to achieve this:
 
1.- The internal dialogue.
It's fundamental. It is very important to have moments to listen to each other and dialogue with our feelings. It is a proposal that I always make: Talk with your feelings. When you are happy ask why? The same when they are sad and depressed. If we identify the weak and strong points of our interiority, we will be able to enhance some and eliminate others.
 
2.- Have a mantra, ejaculation or gesture. 
It should be a short, consistent phrase that we must repeat when we notice that something is wrong. It must be a positive phrase that helps us. It's a way of telling "our hard drive" to delete that file. Personally, as I really like computing, my favorite gesture is to imagine a keyboard in the air or on a table, in which I press the keys «Ctrl + alt + del», as you know, when I do this to a file I delete it definitively without going through the recycle bin. It's a way of eliminating a thought, a feeling, a nagging conversation that leads nowhere, that I want to get rid of.
 
3.- Training.
Everything requires effort. No player or professional is good at his job from today to tomorrow. Being positive, with good energy is not something that is achieved in two days. It requires training and discipline. That is why we have to train ourselves daily in "happiness." Thus, a good therapy is to smile, if it is in front of a mirror, the better. Having a handful of songs that help us lift our spirits and use them, do what we really like, even if it is only for a short time.
 
4.- Avoid toxic people.
At first we must get away from those people who do not give us good vibes, who do not contribute anything positive, who are always in a bad mood. It is true that sometimes, because they are family members or colleagues, we cannot avoid them completely. But it would be good to take some distance and later, when we have our energy "to the maximum" we can resume that relationship.
 
5.- Look at the children. 
They're happy. They have little or nothing fun. They are transparent, they are happy. What do they do to always be happy and full of energy? Observe and imitate their attitude, they are a great source of energy. Spend time with them and have fun, trying to find in yourself what you have as a child and enhancing it.
 
However, I am not opposed to vitamin supplements, or energy drinks. I don't take them. But I do allow myself to remember a phrase, for my lapidary, with which this text began: "Medicine is the art of entertaining the patient while he is healing". Therefore, our attitude is what determines whether a complex, drink or medicine has more or less effect.

The energy is in each one of us. The energy is in you.
