The feeling of emptiness and sickness

The feeling of emptiness and sickness

Excerpted from the book The way of spirituality scored by Jorge Bucay.

Should we let those we love know, if they live in a fantasy world, that reality is different, even if it is more cruel or painful?

I think so.

As a doctor, I can testify to the importance of 2 aspects apparently distant from treatment, but which significantly influence the prognosis and the outcome of their illness, in a patient's evolution.

I mean the awareness of being sick and the will to be cured.

The patient who wants to get ahead has many more options to do so than the one who only remains aware of the consequences of that disease and is therefore abandoned to fate that the success or not of your doctor in the pills and concoctions that he prescribes.

A symptom is a sign of something wrong, a good messenger that warns us that there is some danger to deal with. For what has been said, an alert is not a condemnation or an obituary; but, be careful, it is not by itself the definitive solution to the problem.

You wonder why I ask you all this ... I'll explain:

Let us take that hateful feeling of inner emptiness (which almost all of us know) as if it were a symptom, an alarm signal, a univocal sign a disease of the spirit what shall we call need for the spiritual

The knowledge of its existence and the desire to get rid of that disastrous experience could be, paradoxically, the best help to push us to walk the path of a higher plane that redirects our lives in the direction of that forgotten spirituality.

And that sounds very beneficial, although, once again, it is just an advertisement, as the feeling, by itself, it cannot cure the disease.
