Sometimes you are sad about something or brooding negative thoughts over and over again, and suddenly something happens that takes you out of that lethargy or negative catatonic state and a positive emotion blooms in you such as a strong and renewed self-confidence, a joy, a hope or something that makes you laugh.

I remember a time when I was really upset by the attitude of a person: he unfairly criticized the work that I had done and would send (order) me to do it again. I went out for a walk with my children. I didn't really enjoy the ride because my mind was abuzz with negative thoughts about that person and what he was going to do or how he was going to act. He was in a "negative trance." Suddenly, I saw how my son (who was two years old at the time) stood before two beggars who were drinking in a park. My mind automatically came out of that negative trance and focused on that scene. The beggars looked at him with amusement. At one point, my son took off his pacifier (which was his most precious treasure) and offered it to one of them to put in his mouth. That made me and the beggars laugh.

From that moment my afternoon changed. I do not know if I forgot about the matter with that person or I downplayed its importance. The fact is that my mood changed thanks to the laughter product of observing a funny scene.

Positive emotions have the power to change our negative states. These negative states can be caused by more or less serious problems, although the severity of the problems depends on each person; For each one of us, our problems are the most serious in the world, but I assure you that if you knew those of your neighbor, you would stay without blinking with yours.
