«Limitless»: become the best version of yourself

I recently saw the movie Unlimited.

The movie is about a writer (Eddie) who takes an experimental drug that allows you to use 100 percent of your mind by becoming the perfect version of yourself.

Rise to the top of the financial world which catches the eye of business mogul Carl Van Loon (De Niro), who sees this enhanced version of Eddie as a tool to make billions. However, the side effects are brutal and jeopardize his meteoric rise.

The argument that we only use 20% of our brain is a myth. Then I show you the link to Wikipedia where he talks about this. If you don't believe what Wikipedia says, here is a link to the magazine Scientific American magazine.

Neurologist Barry Gordona described the myth as ridiculously untrue, adding:

"We use almost every part of the brain and it is active most of the time."

Limitless poster

Neuroscientist Barry Beyerstein has established seven types of evidence that disprove the ten percent myth.

But that's not what I want to deal with. I was fascinated by various aspects of the film, especially by the idea of being able to gain greater mental capacity, a superpower and the consequences that this would bring.

Medications for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) have the ability to help focus attention.

What would society be like if each person could improve their mental capacities with a medication? To paraphrase Dash from the Incredibles movie, If everyone is special, in a way, no one is. Obviously, if such a pill existed, the reality is that it probably wouldn't be available to all of us.

However, it is possible to do mental exercises to improve mental capacity (such as reading, attending classes, solving crosswords). Obviously it takes more time and effort, which is why many people do not strive to improve their potential. This is reality, the other fiction.

There are no shortcuts in this regard. Only your effort and determination will make the difference.
