There is a country where suicide has been considered a national problem. According to government reports in that country, 1 in 5 people (according to some research, 1 in 4 people) has attempted suicide at some point in their life.
We are talking about Greenland
Various initiatives have already been taken to reduce the suicide rate in that country, including signs on the roads.
The number of suicides in Greenland began to rise in 1970. In 1986, suicide was the leading cause of death in several cities in Greenland. Between 1990 and 1994, suicide rates became one of the highest in the world. Government data indicates that in 2010 there was one suicide a week.
These high suicide rates are characterized by peaks in June and valleys in the winter. These suicide rates are higher in parts of northern Greenland than in the south. Source
