How to incorporate meditation into your daily life

Meditation in your day to day

A few days ago we talked about how meditation produces physical changes in the brain: increases gray matter, associated with the ability to reason, and increases the size of the hippocampus, the part of our brain responsible for regulating emotions.

People who meditate on a daily basis tend to be calmer people. We already know that having a calm mind is going to provide us with a greater degree of well-being in life so let's get to work, we are going to reserve 10 minutes a day to meditate.

2 points to keep in mind:

1) You have to see at what time of the day you can dedicate those 10 minutes to meditate. You already know what your daily routines are, your schedules, so take a few minutes to think about when you can have those 10 minutes: before breakfast? Before leaving home? After eating? before dinner?

Make a decision about when you are going to meditate, that moment when you think you can spend 10 minutes meditating without being disturbed by anyone.

This decision is the key so that the rest of the days you fulfill your commitment to meditate at least 10 minutes.

2) You are going to download an application called Insight Timer.

It is an application developed exclusively to facilitate the work of anyone who wishes to meditate. It is also a kind of social network for meditators from all over the world. You can get in touch with other people who meditate, form groups and access guided meditations.

Is this application necessary to meditate? NO, of course not ... but it makes things a lot easier since it has a timer that counts down and you can activate different "gong" sounds to play every 2 minutes, for example.

I encourage you to do these two steps so that you can incorporate meditation into your daily life. You will see how you control your emotions better as the days go by.
